The Overview and Scrutiny Commission is responsible for overseeing the Council's work and holding the Executive to account. It develops a strategic work programme, coordinates the work of Overview and Scrutiny Panels, and commissions in-depth reviews to support policy development.
The Commission receives findings and recommendations from Panels, prioritises scrutiny activities for maximum value, and reviews the Council's policy framework and budget proposals. It also manages the 'call-in' process for Executive decisions and discharges the Council's responsibilities for crime and disorder, and strategic health.
