Purpose

To approve the Climate Change Strategy and
accompanying Resource Plan

Decision

RESOLVED that Cabinet:

     
I.        
note the feedback from the public consultation set
out in Appendix 3.
 
 

    
II.        
subject to Councils approval of the Climate Change
Strategy 2025 – 2030, approve the Climate Change Strategy
Phase 1 Delivery Plan.
 

  
III.        
delegate authority to the Executive Director:
Communities in consultation with the Cabinet Member to make any
minor amendments to the Strategy or Delivery Plan.
 
RECOMMENDED to Council the approval of the
Climate Change Strategy 2025 – 2030
 
 

Reasons for the decision

The Climate Change Strategy and Phase 1
Delivery Plan will deliver on a key priority for the Council.

Alternative options considered

As climate change is a key
borough priority, a strategy and delivery plan are considered
necessary. These can be amended if needed – for example if
spending in the next financial year needs to be scaled up or
down.
 
An alternative option is to do
nothing, but the council is not minded to
do that given our stated ambition is to reach net zero by
2030 or as near as possible.
