Purpose

To consider the introduction of 20mph speed
limits on Benetfeld Road, Binfield, Kennel Lane, Bracknell and
Pinehill Road & Grant Road, Crowthorne

Decision

RESOLVED That

·      
the formal objections received during the statutory consultation
processes and the corresponding Officer comments are noted;

·      
 the position regarding local ward
Members comments received during the consultation process is
noted;

·      
the Borough Solicitor be authorised to bring the three 20mph Speed
Limit Orders into effect.

Reasons for the decision

The proposals will seek to encourage an
increase in walking and cycling journeys and positive behaviours in
road users. The reduction in speed limits will also encourage lower
vehicle speeds which in turn will maintain the good road safety
record of all three locations.

Alternative options considered

To not lower the speed limit would offer no
inducement to the promotion of active travel methods to and from
school.
