To approve the installation of a 20mph zone on
Sopwith Road (part)

Reasons for the decision

The Council is developing a Safer Routes to
School (SRTS) programme of highway improvement schemes. These
schemes will seek to encourage an increase in walking and cycling
journeys and positive behaviours in road users.

Included is a targeted 20mph speed limit zone on Sopwith Road in
the vicinity of Warfield CofE Primary School. This speed limit will
serve as a reminder for all drivers that they are in an area with a
high level of child pedestrians and to limit their speed
accordingly.

Alternative options considered

To not lower the speed limit would offer no
inducement to the promotion of active travel methods to and from
school.
