Purpose

To present a proposal to enhance the existing gym facility at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

Decision

RESOLVED that a S106 Agreement funding contribution of £466,423.53 and £233,576.47 Invest to Save funding is approved to enhance the existing gym facilities at Bracknell Leisure Centre.

Reasons for the decision

The investment will generate direct financial benefits for the Council: the leisure operator (Everyone Active) has agreed to pay an increased annual management fee to the Council of £106,684 as a result of the investment into the gym.

Alternative options considered

The existing gym will remain as is and without investment it will become increasingly difficult to maintain existing membership numbers and seek new members in a very competitive market.
