Sensory Needs Social Support Service procurement
July 29, 2026 Executive Director: People (Officer) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To approve the procurement of the Sensory Needs Social Support Service
Decision
RESOLVED that the procurement of a Sensory Needs Social Support Service, via an open Request for Quote, for a 2+1+1 term effective 1 April 202 be APPROVED.
Reasons for the decision
The Care Act 2014 places a legal obligation on local authorities to support people with sensory needs and ensure information and advice is provided with due regard to the needs of individuals with sensory needs.
The current contract delivered by Berkshire Vision expires on the 31 March 2027, under the current terms no further extensions are permissible.
The contract value would allow for a Request for Three Quote process in line with the Council’s Contract Standing Orders. However, market research has shown that there is a very limited market for this specialist service, therefore an open Request for Quotation process allows for providers not currently known to Bracknell Forest Council (BFC) to bid for the tender, while ensuring value for money as well as a high-quality service for Bracknell Forest residents.
