July 14, 2026 Cabinet (Cabinet collective) Key decision Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
To approve the draft strategy prior to formal public consultation.
Decision
RESOLVED that the Cabinet approves the draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy 2027-2032 and supporting homelessness review for consultation.
Reasons for the decision
Housing authorities are required to consult public bodies, local authorities, voluntary organisations and other persons they consider appropriate before adopting a new homelessness strategy. Approval of the draft strategy and supporting review for consultation will enable the Council to undertake stakeholder and public engagement before the strategy is finalised and returned to Cabinet for approval.
Alternative options considered
Cabinet could decide not to approve the draft strategy for consultation at this stage and request amendments before consultation is undertaken.
