Purpose

To consider the introduction of new speed limits (50 & 40mph) on B3348 Bracknell Road and A3095 Foresters Way, Crowthorne.

Decision

RESOLVED

·       That the formal objections received during the statutory consultation processes and the corresponding officer comments are noted;

·       that the position regarding local ward Members comments received during the consultation process is noted;

·       that the Borough Solicitor be authorised to bring the 40mph & 50mph speed limit Order into effect.

Reasons for the decision

The proposals will seek to further encourage an increase in walking and cycling journeys into Swinley Forest from nearby adjacent new developments. The reduction in speed limits will also encourage lower vehicle speeds which in turn will have a positive effect on the road safety for all users.

Alternative options considered

To not lower the speed limit would offer no inducement to the promotion of active travel methods to and from Swinley Forest nor the expected positive road safety effect.
