•               Discharge of town and country planning and development control functions.

•               Responsible for the delivery and monitoring of the adopted Local Plan, including overseeing implementation, considering reports on performance and risks relating to Local Plan delivery, and ensuring the Council meets its statutory planning obligations.   Key Responsibilities

•               Determination of planning applications not delegated to officers.

•               Consideration, modification, and amendment of planning obligations under Section 106 of the Town & Country Planning Act 1990 (as amended).

•               All aspects of planning enforcement, including matters under the Planning (Listed Buildings & Conservation Areas) Act 1990.

•               Consideration of briefs for the development and/or redevelopment of land.

•               Enforcement and decision-making under the Planning (Hazardous Substances) Act 1990.

•               Tree Preservation Orders and related controls under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990.

•               Control of advertisements under the Town & Country Planning Act 1990.

•               Revocation or modification of planning permission, listed building consent, or conservation area consent.

•               Consideration and determination of matters concerning public rights of way.

•               Making Orders under Section 215 of the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 relating to the proper maintenance of land and prosecution for non-compliance.

•               Undertaking site visits as determined to aid the thorough consideration of planning applications.

•               Receiving notice of the outcome of planning appeals.

•               Responsible for Local Plan delivery and monitoring, including oversight of progress against delivery milestones and implementation of policies and allocations within the adopted Local Plan.

•               Receiving updates and offering feedback on Strategic Planning policies and Local Development Plan progress from the Assets, Projects and Strategy Committee.

•               The Committee shall operate in accordance with the provisions of the Council’s Code of Good Practice for Planning Matters, as set out in Part 5 of the Constitution.

•               Determine fees and charges relevant to the committee.

•               Advise the Scrutiny Committee on matters requiring scrutiny.
