Purpose
Bristol City Council successfully applied for
Rough Sleeping Initiative funding from July 2022 to March 2025 and
was awarded £9,877,081 for this period working in line with
govt aims to end rough sleeping by 2024. We have been awarded
further funding from MHCLG to help people move off the streets
during the winter months and have been awarded £360,301 for
services that prevent people rough sleeping or assist people to
move off the streets in the winter months who are identified as
being on the streets for a longer period of time. Funding will be
used to fund services that engage with this group of people and
support and to help them move on into sustainable
accommodation.
The funding award was made directly at the end of January and the
money will be received by 31st March 2025. This has meant there it
has not been possible to gain formal approval, so approval is being
sought from the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration

To confirm acceptance of the grant and to
approve spend to provide services for people who have been rough
sleeping longer term with collaborative support to help them move
off the streets into sustainable accommodation with tailored
support.
Alternative options considered
Option 1 - No alternative options have been
considered or rejected as the money was needed to reduce the level
of people who have been rough sleeping longer term to find the
accommodation and support they need to help them off the streets in
a sustainable way with collaborative working with adult social care
and substance use services.
