Purpose

To establish a member Task and Finish
Group
for the High Streets Strategy.

Content

1.     
That the Committee for Economy and Skills noted the report and
approved the recommended approach and scope in the Terms of
Reference (Appendix A) for the High Streets Strategy Task and
Finish Group.

2.     
That the Committee for Economy and Skills agree the Chair and
membership of the Task and Finish Group; in so doing, the Committee
is asked to appoint either a 7 member or a 9 member group. (Note:
a. The membership should be politically proportionate to the
composition of the Full Council (for a 9-member group, this would
comprise 4 Green, 3 Labour, 1 Liberal Democrat ,1 Conservative; for
a 7-member group, this would comprise 3 Green, 2 Labour, 1 Liberal
Democrat ,1 Conservative). b. In the event that the Committee
cannot appoint a full membership, the party group whips will
appoint members to fill any vacancies)

3.     
That the Committee for Economy and Skills delegated the decision to
agree frequency and duration of the meetings and finalisation of
the terms of reference to the Task and Finish Group.

4.     
That the Task and Finish Group return to the Committee for Economy
and Skills in September/October 2025 with its findings.
