Purpose

The CRSTS Stockwood to Cribbs Corridor
(A37/A4018) Bristol Southern Section project (Sturminster Road and
West Town lane active travel improvements) is a scheme looking to
make highway infrastructure improvements along the route of the
2/2A bus service, that prioritise sustainable transport including
Active Travel. To deliver these changes, the Council needs to
secure the support of a civil engineering delivery partner. This
Officer Decision Notice follows on from the decision 2 (ii) of Item
8 at the Transport and Connectivity Committee on the 24th October
2024, in seeking to award a contract to a civil construction
company from Lot 6 of the Bristol Highways Framework for the
delivery of the Stockwood to Cribbs Corridor (A37/A4018) Bristol
Southern Section (Sturminster Road and West Town lane active travel
improvements).

Content

Exercising the approvals granted in the
October 2024 Committee paper that authorised the Executive Director
of Growth and Regeneration in consultation with the Committee Chair
for Transport and Section 151 officer, subject to approval of the
Full Business Case by WECA, to;
i. Take all steps required to accept and spend the City Region
Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) funding amount as set out
in this report and appendices,
ii. Tender and procure contracts (including any over £500K)
necessary to deliver the works,
iii. Award contracts and spend the funding to deliver the works as
set out in the Full Business Case up £6.1m

Alternative options considered

This option has been developed through the
design and business case process, other designs were considered and
discounted.
