Purpose
On 4th April 2025 the Environment and
Sustainability Committee, agreed the following
recommendation:
1.Approves the city council’s application to the Nature in
Towns and Cities Programme as set out in Appendix A (Exempt
information)
2.If the application is successful, authorises the Executive
Director Growth and Regeneration, in consultation with the
Committee Chair of Environment and Sustainability committee, to
take all steps required to accept and spend the funding from Nature
Towns and Cities; to implement the project as set out in proposals
included in Appendix A1; and, to make any amendments to the project
as necessary for successful delivery.
3.Authorises the Executive Director Growth and Regeneration, in
consultation with the Committee Chair of Environment and
Sustainability committee, to take all steps required to apply for
Nature Towns and Cities Accreditation.
In July 2025 the National Heritage Lottery Fund announced that
Bristol City Council’s application has been successful and
awarded the council a grant of £984,126 is to enable
communities across Bristol to increase their capacity to improve
and work with nature.

the committee paper 4th April 2025 to the Environment and
Sustainability Committee.
