Purpose

The DATRIG funding decision was taken at the
strategy and resources committee meeting on 17/03/25 as a finance
urgent key decision appended to the period 10 finance outturn
report, appendix A6, as noted in item 124; point 10 of the decision
notice.
As a result of the funding being approved, we now have
£150,000 to be allocated to building the capacity of people
with lived experience of drug and alcohol use in the city, by
providing a grants pot to encourage social action and the continued
sustainability and development of a lived experience recovery
organisation.
The fund would be administered through Quartet Community Foundation
on our behalf.

Content

To award Quartet Community Foundation a grant
to the amount of £150,000 to deliver a programme specifically
aimed at people in recovery from problematic substance use, taking
social action in their neighbourhood on issues they are passionate
about. The lived experience voice has been included in developing
the criteria for the fund. In addition to the small grants fund,
the fund will also support the continued sustainability and
development of an independent lived experience recovery
organisation for the city.

Alternative options considered

We have an existing strong relationship with
Quartet Community Foundation which is the community foundation for
the region. Quartet have successfully administered a range of funds
for the city council and many other organisations.
There is not an alternative suitable organisation which can deliver
this programme in the ways expected.
