Permission to submit an application to progress Concorde Way (Dovercourt Road)
August 22, 2025 Executive Director: Growth and Regeneration (Officer) Approved View on council websiteFull council record
Purpose
Design work has been undertaken on the
Concorde Way cycling and walking route around Dovercourt Road since
2022 using WECA (West of England Combined Authority) Investment
Fund (IF) money. With this funding close to running out, WECA have
proposed that City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS)
funding is used to prepare the Business Case. BCC have prepared a
Funding and Development Funding Application Form (FADFAF) for
£450k that has been calculated as the amount needed to finish
the consultation currently underway, complete the design work, and
prepare a Business Case.
Content
To approve submission of the FADFAF to WECA
for £450k to develop the Concorde Way scheme.
To accept and spend this funding, when received, on the current
activities that include (but are not limited to) concluding the
consultation, completing the detailed design, and preparing the
Business Case.
Alternative options considered
Stopping work on this scheme would be an
option, but the sustainable transport benefits would then not be
realised.
A request for further IF could be made, but there is currently
pressure to ensure that CRSTS spend is accelerated.
