Purpose

Bristol City Council wishes to extend its
existing contract for cashless parking to allow sufficient time to
tender for a new long-term contract. That procurement will provide
an opportunity to improve the current provision

Content

To award an 8-month contract extension from 31
March 2026 to 30 November 2026, which will allow officers time to
undertake a full tender process for a future long-term
contract.

Alternative options considered

There are no further extensions available
within the contract, however, after review with procurement we are
able to compliantly extend the contract term and value to give an
additional 8 months service. This will enable us to complete a
thorough procurement exercise for a new contract. The alternative
would be to try and procure a new contract by March 26, but due to
the potential impact on customers and the amount of revenue
collected through Cashless Parking, this has been deemed an
unacceptably high-risk option.
