Purpose
The following decisions were made at the
Transport and Connectivity Committee on 6 February 2025 (see
www.bristol.gov.uk for all six recommendations, including three not
directly related to this matter):
- Approved the use of up to £3.5m of the existing project
budget to negotiate an agreement with Knights Brown (KB).
- Authorised the Executive Director Growth and Regeneration in
consultation with the Committee Chair for Transport and
Connectivity to extend/ vary the contract as necessary to enact
recommendations 1 and 4.
- Authorised the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration to
invoke any subsequent extensions/ variations specifically defined
in the contract(s) being awarded, up to the maximum budget envelope
outlined in this report as per recommendation 4
A Deed of Variation has been prepared by KB that stays within the
approved budget and has been approved for signature by BCC Legal
Services. We hereby seek approval for the Deed to be signed by the
appropriate officer.
Content
That the Executive Director for Growth and
Regeneration signs the Deed of Variation to the contract with
Knights Brown.
Alternative options considered
If this Deed of Variation is not signed, the
Harbour Walkway works (specifically the bank stabilisation) will
not be completed and Knights Brown may choose to take legal action
against Bristol City Council.
