Purpose

1.For committee to note the successful bid
submitted for DfE Complex Needs Open Children's Homes Capital
Investment Grant funding on behalf of a BNSSG (Bristol City
Council, North Somerset Council, South Gloucestershire Council and
BNSSG Integrated Care Board) to develop a specialist mental health
children’s home.
2.To seek approval to accept and spend the grant funding awarded
from the DfE Complex Needs Open Children's Homes Capital Investment
Grant.

The Committee RESOLVED: UNANIMOUSLY
 

To note the success of the bid submitted for DfE Complex Needs Open
Children's Homes Capital Investment Grant funding on behalf of a
BNSSG group (Bristol City Council, North Somerset Council, South
Gloucestershire Council and BNSSG Integrated Care Board) to develop
a specialist mental health children’s home.

 

To authorise the Executive Director for Children and Education, in
consultation with Chair of the Children and Young People Committee,
to take all steps required to accept and spend £426,840 grant
funding including procuring all necessary contracts.

 

To authorise the Executive Director for Children and Education, in
consultation with Chair of the Children and Young People Committee
and the Section 151 Officer, to approve the acquisition of a
property or the use of a surplus Council building that would
otherwise be disposed of to generate capital receipt based on a
value for money assessment of the costs, deliverability

and likely benefits.

 

To authorise the Executive Director for Children and Education in
consultation with the Chair of the Children and Young People
Committee to invoke any subsequent extensions/variations
specifically defined in the contract(s) being awarded, up to the
maximum budget envelope outlined in this

report.
