Purpose

To accelerate the installation of community owned renewable energy through the Bristol Community Energy Accelerator project.

To accept funding if a recently submitted funding bid is successful and to delegate to officers the implementation of that project.

Decision

That the Committee for Strategy and Resources:

1. Noted the funding application submitted for the Bristol Community Energy Accelerator project to the European Climate Neutral and Smart Cities Mission and authorised the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration in consultation with the Chair of the Strategy and Resources Committee to accept and spend the funding if successful.
2. Authorised the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration in consultation with the Chair of the Strategy and Resources Committee to take all steps required to implement the project, including the creation of the Bristol Community Energy Accelerator partnership and entering into any necessary legal agreements.
3. Approved the principle of the Bristol Community Energy Accelerator and authorise the Executive Director for Growth and Regeneration in consultation with the Chair of the Strategy and Resources Committee to submit further funding bids (which may be over the key decision threshold) to other funding sources if they become available and to accept and spend that funding in relation to the implementation of the project as outlined in this report.
