Purpose

All Saints Lane and Exchange Avenue form part of the historic heart of Bristol's Old City and provide an important pedestrian link between key cultural, heritage, retail and commercial destinations. The existing paving within All Saints Lane and Exchange Avenue has deteriorated over time, with a number of uneven surfaces, damaged paving slabs and areas of wear which present potential trip hazards for pedestrians.
Bristol City Council wishes to award a contract to ETM Contractors Limited to undertake improvement works to the paving areas in All Saints Lane and Exchange Avenue (Old City). The contractor has been selected following a partial competition using Lot 5 (Highways Civil Engineering works up to £499,999 (excluding VAT)) of the Highway Asset Management and Civil Framework.

Decision

Approval to award a contract to ETM Contractors Limited to undertake improvement works to the paving areas and street furniture in All Saints Lane and Exchange Avenue (Old City).

Alternative options considered

Do Nothing- this option was rejected as the proposed improvements would not be undertaken, and the existing issues would remain unaddressed.
