Purpose

Bristol City Council wishes to commission
resurfacing works on Park Row, Perry Road, Upper Maudlin Street and
Colston Street from the Highways Lot 1 Framework. These works are
being undertaken alongside the sustainable transport project that
is currently being delivered in this area. It was originally
intended for the works to form part of the sustainable transport
project, but that proved to be unaffordable due to high tender and
retender prices (and it would not have been feasible to pause the
sustainable transport project to seek additional funding owing to
its existing funding conditions). It was therefore agreed, by the
Executive Director for Growth

Content

Further to the agreement to take this approach
to procurement in October 2023, and the “City Region
Sustainable Transport Settlement – Maintenance and Integrated
Transport Block (ITB) Allocation 2024-25 Decision Report”
taken to Cabinet on 5 March 2024, the Executive Director for Growth
and Regeneration (with approval from the S151 Officer and Chair of
the Transport and Connectivity Committee) has formally authorised
the commissioning of a contractor (Hanson) to deliver the
resurfacing works on Park Row, Perry Road, Upper Maudlin Street and
Colston Street.
