Purpose
Bristol City Council Children and Families has
a programme to reprofile our residential children homes. Our aim is
to create loving, nurturing family homes for our children whose
needs are best met in a residential setting. Under this programme,
we are increasing the number of homes in Bristol. Officers have
identified a property in the north of the city, which will become a
3 bed children’s home with space for staff.
In June 2019 Cabinet delegated authority to the Executive Director
and Lead member to take all take all necessary steps (including
property acquisitions, procurement of necessary services and works)
to deliver the reprofiling programme, within the allocated budget
(including authority to take decisions to spend sums that would
otherwise require a key decision).
Officers have been working to identify a property for several
months. The market is highly competitive, and we have been
unsuccessful in a number of other attempts to purchase.
This property meets our requirements and is good value for
money.
