The Portfolio Holder for Public Protection and
Enforcement approved the Food Safety Service Plan for
2025-2026.

Reasons for the decision

Bromley Council is the Food Safety Authority
under the Food Safety Act 1990 and has a duty to enforce food
safety, food standards and feed requirements. The Food Standards
Agency requires the Council to publish a Food Safety Plan at
regular intervals, and such plans are required to have Member or
appropriately authorised senior management approval. It is also
required that the authority undertake a documented review of the
performance of the food safety function at least once a year.
 
The report presented to the Portfolio Holder
outlined Bromley’s Food Safety Service Plan for 2025-2026.
The plan outlines how the effective enforcement of food safety
legislation will be undertaken and in addition, reports on the
performance of the food safety function in the preceding business
year. It is intended that the Plan will satisfy the Food Standards
Agency that the Council's food safety regulatory regime is
operating effectively and in accordance with the relevant
legislative requirements.
