Purpose

This report sets out a recommendation for a new process of
reviewing, updating, and publishing the council’s Local
Application Requirements (LARs) for planning applications. These
requirements set out the information officers need to assess an
application.

The adoption of LARs are operational and administrative
decisions, but the current process is slow and involves many steps
and decisions taken by the Cabinet Member rather than officers at
service level. The current process also has limited windows of
consultation, limiting customer feedback on the LARs. This report
recommends a new streamlined and efficient officer-led process with
the benefit of continuous consultation and public
feedback.
