Purpose
To consider implementing trial proposals for a
pedestrianisation of Camden High Street, Safe and Healthy Streets
measures in Jamestown Road, and Streateries, subject to detailed
design and statutory process.

Consideration was given to a report of the Director of
Environment and Sustainability.
DECISION –
THAT having considered the proposals in relation to the
objectives set out in Camden’s Transport Strategy, the public
Consultation Report (Appendix A), the Equality Impact Assessment
(Appendix B), the Strategic Policy Alignment (Appendix F) and
having had due regard to the needs set out in Section 149 of the
Equality Act 2010, the Cabinet Member for Planning and a
Sustainable Camden is agrees to:
i)
Approve the proposals set out in section 2 of this report for a
trial of the Camden High Street Pedestrianisation scheme, and
additional measures on streets in the vicinity of Camden High
Street (as also set out in section 2), subject to compliance with
relevant statutory requirements; and
ii)
Delegate authority to the Chief Engineer to take any further
decisions required to deliver each element of this scheme,
including the detailed design and implementation elements; and
iii)
Delegate authority to the Director of Environment and
Sustainability, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for
Planning and a Sustainable Camden, to take any further decisions on
this scheme including consideration of any objections to statutory
consultation processes and whether or not to make the scheme
permanent (or otherwise) at the end of the trial
period.
