Purpose

This report seeks the award of contract to Camden Carers
Centre for the provision of the Carers Support Service who
currently deliver the service. The Carers Support Service addresses
the statutory duties the Care Act 2014 places on Local Authorities
to identify unpaid carers, assess their needs and prevent, reduce
and delay future need for support.

The new contract will start on 1st April 2025 for an
initial period of four (4) years until 31st March 2029, with the
option to extend for an additional three (3) years until 31st March
2032, for a total value of £3,474,126 (£6,314,419
including extension).

Camden Carers submitted a tender with strengths which
include understanding local needs, co-designing the service with
local groups and working with young carers as they transition into
adulthood. Their tender also demonstrated innovation, for example,
they will work with medical students at University College London
to ensure future doctors will have a great understanding of the
role of carers.
