Purpose

On 28 February
2024 it was agreed
to allocate a total of
£1,016,446  of Strategic
Community Infrastructure Levy (SCIL) to fund Arts and Culture
staffing and budget to support annual arts and a borough culture
programme for 2024/25 and 2025/26.
 
The funding
enabled the service to invest in a programme of festivals and
events in the public realm which brings our residents and
communities together, supports local and grass roots artists and
develops a long term sustainable cultural strategy.
 
This report seeks
to allocate £1,141,806 to fund 3 staff posts, the annual
cultural programme and new activity emerging from the culture
strategy for 26/27 and 27/28. This leaves a SCIL balance of
£5,127,907 at the date of this report.
