Purpose
To consider the
surrender of part of the Brunswick Centre lease between the
Landlord and the Council for a capital payment.

DECISION –
THAT the Cabinet
Member for Better Homes:
i)
Approves the proposed part surrender of the council’s
leasehold interest at the Brunswick Centre, to enable realignment
of the council’s parking provision and the redevelopment of
the surrendered part as a hotel by the freeholder;
ii)
Approves a budget of £30,000 for engineering monitoring
and specialist advice and legal fees that may be required;
and
iii)
Delegates authority to the Director of Property Management,
following consultation with the Director of Finance, Director of
Development, Head of Legal Services and Head of Property, to
finalise the completion of the lease surrender and to demand and
receive payment of the surrender premium outlined in the Part II
appendix to this report.
