Purpose
This report seeks
approval for the Council to enter into the Settlement Deed covering
properties in Camden identified as being within 30 meters of
tunnels associated with the railway line and therefore potentially
at risk of ground movement arising from HS2 tunnelling
works.
The Settlement
Deed is a formal legal agreement that provides property owners with
structured rights to compensation and dispute resolution where
ground movement occurs. HS2 is the UK’s new
high?speed
railway, and “settlement” refers to the way land and
buildings may shift during tunnelling or excavation. The Deed
records HS2 Ltd.’s obligations to protect affected properties
and compensate owners where necessary.
