Purpose

This report provides a summary of the procurement process for the replacement of the boilers at Camden School for Girls and seeks approval for the award of contract. The report also sets out the procurement strategy, for a request for quotation process originally estimated between £120k and £150k.

It is recommended that G & D Higgins be appointed to execute the works during the summer 2026 holidays. This timing is proposed to prevent any potential disruption to the school's operations during the Autumn 2026 term due to heating issues. The contract will commence on 20 July 2026 for a period of six weeks, for an estimated total value of £165,920 excluding optional items of £22,800.

The project is being fully funded by the school, including the project management costs incurred by Council officers.

Approval is sought from the Executive Director Investment, Place and Opportunity to proceed with the appointment of GD Higgins for the timely and efficient completion of the boiler replacement.

This report is coming to the Executive Director Investment, Place and Opportunity in line of Contract Standing Order C4.2

Decision

THAT the Executive Director Investment, Place & Opportunity agrees:

1. The procurement strategy for the replacement of the boilers at Camden School for Girls using a Request for Quotation procurement process with an 80% price and 20% quality weighting.
2. the award of the contract to G & D Higgins at a sum of £165,920, excluding optional items, with the works commencing on 21st July and finishing in the first week of September 2026.
