Purpose

This report is recommending to award a grant for a health equity specialist to lead on design, delivery and the implementation of Phase 3 of the Equitable Services Programme focused on improving services for children and young people (CYP) in Camden. To date, the programme’s key workstreams and enablers were shaped by stakeholder insights and a range of resources and tools have been developed that enable commissioners and service providers to embed equity as part of commissioning/ monitoring and service review.

As part of Phase 3, the process that was undertaken in the CYP space will be adapted and rolled out to other Camden teams to support them in identifying and addressing inequities. Post Mid-June 2026, the plan is to work with Family Hubs and/or Adult Social Care, replicating the process that was used within the CYP space to design a suitable and effective programme of work with the overall aim of ensuring equity is at the forefront of service delivery and commissioning.

A process evaluation of previous phases is underway, which will strengthen delivery of Phase 3; it will highlight key barriers and enablers which can inform the design and delivery going forward.

The proposal is Phase 3 will be delivered by the existing Health Equity Specialist, who has led on Phases 1 and 2, to be able to take forward the design and delivery of Equitable Services Programme (ESP) across a wider range of service settings.

Decision

THAT the Director of Health and Wellbeing, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Health, Wellbeing and Social Care, agrees to award a grant of £55,000.00 to existing Health Equity Specialist Radhika Puri for provision of specialist programme management for the third phase of the CYP Equitable Services Programme, including supporting its design and delivery.
