Purpose

This report seeks approval from the Director of Environment and
Sustainability, in consultation with the Cabinet Member for a
Sustainable Camden to implement five, permanent Green Mobility Hubs
(Goldington Crescent, Cranleigh Street, Charrington Street (Phase
1), Doric Way and Chalton Street (Phase 2) in the Somers Town area.
The scheme has been developed to create some of Camden’s (and
the UK’s) first Green Mobility Hubs within Somers Town,
combining a range of shared and environmentally sustainable
mobility options at each location. The project is part of the wider
Somers Town Future Neighbourhoods 2030 programme, funded by the
Mayor of London.
 
Details of the measures proposed at each site are provided in
Section 2. The recommendations in this report are made taking into
account relevant policies, feedback and monitoring data, a full
public consultation (for Phase 1 between 26th September –
17th October 2023 and for Phase 2 between 21st December 2023
– 21st January 2024) on all proposals contained in this
report, and the relevant Equality Impact Assessment.

Having considered the proposals in relation to the
objectives set out in Camden’s Transport Strategy, the design
amendments made in response to feedback received in the public
consultation (Appendix C), the public Consultation Summary Report
(Appendix A), the Equality Impact Assessment (Appendix B),and
having had due regard to the needs set out in Section 149 of the
Equality Act (2010) the Director of Environment and Sustainability,
in consultation with the Cabinet Member for a Sustainable
Camden:
 
      
i.         
Approves each of the five individual  proposals
to permanently implement Green Mobility Hubs at
Goldington Crescent, Cranleigh Street,
Charrington Street (Phase 1), and Doric Way and
Chalton Street (Phase 2), including the design
amendments that were made in response to feedback received in the
public consultation, subject to compliance with relevant statutory
requirements; and
 
     
ii.         
Delegates authority to the Chief Engineer to take any
further decisions required to deliver each of the 5 schemes,
including the detailed design and implementation elements.
