Purpose
This report proposes that Camden enters into a grant agreement
with the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust for the provision
of:
•
Grant from 1st April 2024 to 31st March 2026, to continue to fund
the dedicated Nurse role as part of the Asthma Friendly Schools
(AFS) project.
This proposal supports the We Make Camden commitment to ensuring
that every child has the best start in life, and the ambition that
Camden communities support good health, wellbeing and connection
for everyone, so that they can start well, live well, and age
well.
Addressing childhood asthma is a priority of Camden’s
Health and Wellbeing Strategy (part of the Healthy and Ready for
Schools strand). The role also links strategically to the
requirement for Camden to implement the National Bundle of Care for
Asthma and to Camden’s Asthma Strategic Plan.
The post is currently in place and funded through an existing
Grant Agreement with the Trust which ends on 31st
March 2024. As a development role, the AFS Nurse role does not
constitute as a service in its own right, hence a Grant Agreement
is recommended.
This report is required as the Camden Constitution
requires that any grant award between £25,000 and
£100,000 per year be delegated to the relevant Executive
Director and Director of Health and Wellbeing in consultation with
the relevant Cabinet Members.
