Purpose

This report recommends the contract award for Making Every
Contact Count (MECC), a well-established approach to making the
most of each and every opportunity to help people improve their
health and wellbeing. It encourages conversations based on
behaviour change methodologies (ranging from brief advice to more
advanced behaviour change techniques), empowering residents to make
healthier lifestyle choices and exploring the wider social
determinants that influence health. MECC face-to-face training
provides practical skills and knowledge to staff to deliver MECC
conversations.
 
Following completion of the Request for Quotation process it is
proposed that a contract is awarded to Social Marketing Gateway for
an initial three-year period from April 2024, with two possible
extensions of one-year each at the sole discretion of the Council.
The estimated value of the contract totals £249,500 including
both extensions. The annual cost would be £49,900 per year
(of which Camden’s investment will be £24,950 and
Islington’s £24,950) The total cost of Camden’s
investment over of the lifetime of the contract will be
£124,750.
 
This report is being presented to the Director of Health and
Wellbeing in accordance with Contract Standing Orders.
