Purpose

This report seeks approval to the proposed approach for a short
term contractual arrangement for the Islington and Camden joint
Young Carers Service that will be led by Camden Procurement
Team.
 
The Islington and Camden Young Carers Service is currently
delivered by Family Action, who work with young carers and their
families living in Islington and Camden. The service has been
successful in improving outcomes for young carers across both
boroughs and links into existing Council Services such as social
care, education and Child and Adolescent Mental Health
Services.
 
The current contract is due to expire on 31 March 2024. The
recommendation is to undertake a request for quotations to award a
contract for an initial period of one (1) year with the option of a
one-year extension from April 2025, at the sole discretion of the
Council. This will allow for seamless delivery of support to young
carers in Camden and Islington whilst a longer term strategy and
identification of recurrent resource are identified. The projected
annual price for the service will be £229,000 with a maximum
contract value (including the extension) of £458,000.
 
The procurement strategy report will subsequently be presented
to the Director of Health and Wellbeing in line with Contract
Standing Orders.

procurement strategy, which includes a price/quality split of 40/60
and contract term of one (1) year with the option of a one-year
extension at the sole discretion of the Council for an estimated
aggregate value of £458,000 (including the extension).
