Purpose
The Council cabinet approved the refurbishment of the Town Hall
in January 2020, the works are nearing completion; part of the
building is to be retained for operational and civic functions.
Marketing of surplus space in the building commenced in 2021 and
terms have now been agreed for the letting of the following parts
for annual rental income:
part lower ground, part ground, entire second, third floor and
the terraces.
As set out in the January 2020 Cabinet Report (link): the
investment in the building will protect the Camden’s valued
civic and community building and deliver multiple benefits
including: environmental; revenue; income; job creation; along with
improved employment, entertainment, enterprise, democratic and
community spaces.
At the meeting on the 15th of January 2020 the Cabinet delegated
authority for the marketing strategies, selection of tenants and
detailed terms for the leased office space, including the small and
medium-sized enterprise incubator space and thereafter entering
into to all necessary legal agreements for the refurbished Town
Hall to the Executive Director, Corporate
Services.
This report asks the Executive Director to exercise the
delegation in relation to agreeing the heads of terms for the
letting of the parts mentioned above.
Content
THAT the Executive Director, Corporate Services:
1. Agrees the
main terms for the letting of parts of the Town Hall, contained in
Part 2 of the report;
2. Agrees that
the Council enter into a legal agreement for parts of the property
based on the main terms.
