Purpose

The Cabinet Member for a Sustainable
Camden approved a report titled Chalk Farm Road Safe and Healthy
Streets: Decision on trial walking and cycling safety scheme and
additional measures on 7 the December 2021. The scheme was
implemented as a trial in July 2020, which consisted of measures to
(i) improve safety for an anticipated increased number
of people cycling, as a result of the COVID-19
pandemic, and (ii) to facilitate the Morrison’s development
at Ferdinand Street/Juniper Crescent, including road safety
improvements for pedestrians and cyclists. During the trial period
of the scheme extensive monitoring was carried out, and a full
public consultation in October 2021 was also undertaken, alongside
that monitoring data and reference to relevant policies, to help
inform the final scheme recommendations.

This report seeks approval from the
Chief Engineer under delegated authority set out in the
aforementioned report for the scheme design to be
amended in light of stakeholder feedback, and further Officer
assessment of safety and accessibility considerations, following
the initial approval of the scheme. The change proposes converting
2 residents permit bays to a loading only bay which would allow The
Enterprise Bar & Hotel to have closer access to the cellar
hatch and other businesses in the area to load and unload.
