Purpose
This report seeks approval of the appropriation for planning
purposes of land held by the Council for housing purposes in order
to facilitate the regeneration of the West Kentish Town Estate
(WKTE).
Content
THAT the Executive Director of Supporting Communities in
consultation with the Cabinet Member for New Homes, Jobs and
Community Investment, Cabinet Member for Better Homes and Cabinet
Member for Finance and Cost of Living, the Executive Director
Corporate Services and the Borough Solicitor:
1. approves the
appropriation of the land and buildings as shown edged in red on
the plan at Appendix A, from housing purposes to planning purposes
under s122 of the Local Government Act 1972 to facilitate the
redevelopment of the land, subject to and in accordance with
planning permission (yet to be granted) for the redevelopment of
WKTE and the Secretary of State’s consent under section 19 of
the Housing Act 1985, such appropriation to take effect following
detailed planning approval for phase 1 and approval of reserved
matters for subsequent phases.
2.
pursuant to s. 232 of the Town and Country Planning
Act 1990, approves the subsequent appropriation of the same land
scheduled at Appendix A to the Council’s housing powers
pursuant to ss.9 & 19 of the Housing Act 1985.
