Summary

...to approve the implementation of a traffic management order amendment exempting cyclists from the 'left turn only' restriction on Bartholomew Road at the junction with Kentish Town Road, allowing them to travel straight across to Kelly Street or turn right onto Kentish Town Road, and delegated further implementation decisions to the Transport Design Team Manager.

Full council record
Purpose

Proposals to exempt cycles from the ‘left turn only’
traffic restriction on Bartholomew Road at the junction with
Kentish Town Road were subject to a three-week statutory traffic
management order (TMO) consultation between 2nd March 2023 and 23rd
March 2023. The proposals would allow cyclists to (1) travel
straight across Kentish Town Road to Kelly Street, and (2) turn
right onto Kentish Town Road. The Council did not receive any
responses to the TMO consultation.

The proposals meet the objectives of We Make Camden by helping
create clean, vibrant, and sustainable places by removing barriers
to cycling, which would help to encourage residents to cycle more
instead of driving motor vehicles. This would in turn contribute to
improving air quality and lowering carbon emissions in the
borough.
