Purpose
This report proposes to approve the tender process to procure a
suitable contractor to deliver capital works as part of the
Drummond Street Shop Front Improvement scheme, which seeks to
revitalise shop frontages within the HS2 Impact Area within the
Regent’s Park Ward. These works are part of the overall
vision of public realm improvements within the Drummond Street
area.
Businesses and residents have been significantly impacted by
disruption caused by infrastructure changes as part of the
construction of the High Speed 2 Railway link. Funding secured
through the Business and Local Economy Fund (BLEF) of
£650,000 have been ringfenced to mitigate these impacts on
business, people, and place. Camden Council has been working in
partnership with stakeholders, including Euston Town Business
Improvement District and Jan Kattein architects, to transform
Drummond Street into a safe, accessible, and thriving public space.
The value of the proposed works is £255,530, funded through
the BLEF grant.
Businesses within Drummond Street have been consulted and
engaged on proposed shop front improvements, with Jan Kattein
Architects leading on the design and delivery of the proposed
changes to frontages. It is recommended that an invited tender,
whereby preferred contractors are approached, will be the most
suitable to deliver these proposed works, which are proposed to
commence in first quarter of 2023.
