Purpose

To consider School Sufficiency options and whether to launch a consultation on proposed next steps.

Decision

RESOLVED –

THAT, having considered the evidence outlined in the report, the Council’s obligations under section 149 of the Equality Act 2010, the Equality Impact Assessments (Appendices C, D, E and F) and the relevant statutory guidance relating to school organisation:

(i)                 Approval be given to undertake public consultation with stakeholders, including families, schools, diocesan partners and the wider community to consider the structural change options for each of the following schools:

(a)  St Alban’s Church of England Primary School Options:

•         Reduction in Published Admission Number (PAN)

•         Amalgamation with another Camden primary school, through closure of St Alban’s and transfer of the pupils to that school

•         Closure of the school

(b)  St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Options:

•         Reduction in PAN

•         Closure of the school

(c)   St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School Options:

•         Reduction in PAN

•         Amalgamation with another Camden primary school, through closure of St Patrick’s and transfer of the pupils to that school

•         Closure of the school

(d)  La Sainte Union Catholic Secondary School Options:

•         Reduction in PAN

•         Federation with another secondary school

•         Closure of the school Years 7–11 provision only AND retention and reconfiguration of post‑16 provision (Years 12 – 13/14)

•         Full Closure of the school Years 7 – 13/14
