Purpose

This report seeks approval for changes to the Camden Local Plan Proposed Submission Draft (“the Plan”), the Council’s main planning document which provides the framework for managing development in the borough, and associated documents which have been requested by the Planning Inspector carrying out the Examination in Public of the Plan in order to ensure it is found ‘sound’ and passes examination.

This report is coming to the Director of Economy, Regeneration and Investment because Cabinet at its meeting on 2 April 2025 delegated authority to the Director, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden, to make changes to the Camden Local Plan Proposed Submission Draft, Local Plan Policies Map and supporting documents prior to, and during, the public examination, in response to objectors' submissions, national policy changes or requests from the Planning Inspector.

Decision

THAT the Director of Economy, Regeneration and Investment, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for Planning and a Sustainable Camden:
 

1)                 approves the proposed changes (“modifications”) to the Camden Local Plan and Policies Map made in response to requests from the Planning Inspector, set out in Appendix A and B to this report; and

2)                 agrees the proposed modifications to the Local Plan and Policies Map (as referenced at (i) above) and related documents (including the Sustainability Appraisal and Habitats Regulations Assessment of the main modifications to the Local Plan and updated Local Plan Policies Map) being published for consultation.
