Purpose

This report seeks approval from the Director of
Environment and Sustainability to dedicate parking spaces adjacent
to 40 lamp column electric vehicle charge points (EVCPs), for
Electric Vehicle (EV) charging at all times. It also provides
details of the results of a public consultation undertaken between
23rd February 2023 and 16th March 2023, and a
Traffic Management Order (TMO) consultation run in parallel on the
same dates.
 
The proposals would help meet the objectives of We Make
Camden by providing electric vehicle charging infrastructure to our
stakeholders, which will encourage a switch to electric vehicles
where there is essential need for a car, supporting Camden to be a
green, clean, vibrant, accessible and sustainable place with
everyone empowered to contribute to tacking the Climate
Emergency.

(i)             
THAT having considered the results of the consultation set out in
Section 5 of the report and Appendix E, the Equality Impact
Assessment (EqIA) (section 4 and Appendix C) and
having due regard to the duties set out in section 149 of the
Equality Act 2010, and subject to compliance with relevant
statutory requirements, the Director of Environment and
Sustainability approves the following:
 
a)       The parking
space adjacent to 58 Eton Avenue is dedicated to EV charging
only;
b)       The parking
space adjacent to 16 Adeline Place is dedicated to EV charging
only;
c)       The parking
space adjacent to University, Bedford Way is dedicated to EV
charging only;
d)       The parking
space adjacent to Chambers, Bury Place is dedicated to EV charging
only;
e)       The parking
space adjacent to the junction with Fitzroy Square, Grafton Way is
dedicated to EV charging only;
f)        The
parking space adjacent to 24 Little Russell Street is dedicated to
EV charging only;
g)       The parking
space adjacent to 15 Agar Grove is dedicated to EV charging
only;
h)       The parking
space adjacent to 27 St Augustines Road is dedicated
to EV charging only;

i)       
The parking space adjacent to 23 Hartland Road is dedicated to EV
charging only;
j)        The
parking space adjacent to 44 Agamemnon Road is dedicated to EV
charging only;

space adjacent to 4 Minster Road is dedicated to EV charging

The parking space adjacent to 134 Iverson Road is dedicated to EV

The parking space adjacent to 67 Iverson Road is dedicated to EV
charging only;
mm)   The parking space
adjacent to 26 Narcissus Road is dedicated to EV charging only;
and

nn)    
The parking space adjacent to 87 Priory Road is NOT dedicated to EV
charging only.
 

(ii)            
That the dedicated EV charging bay adjacent to 87 Priory Road
should not be progressed as, following consultation, the charge
point was removed from this location.
 

(iii)          
That 39 parking spaces be converted from other uses to facilitate
dedicated electric vehicle charging spaces as detailed in Section 2
of this report. 
 

(iv)          
That the Director of Environment and Sustainability delegates
further decisions required for implementation of the proposals,
including detail design considerations, to the Chief Engineer.
