Purpose
To consider proposals for a Safe and Healthy Streets scheme for
Christchurch Hill and Flask Walk/ Well Walk Area, including
pedestrian safety, public realm improvements and rain gardens, a
trial Healthy School Street for Christ Church Primary School on
Christchurch Hill, and other measures, subject to detailed design
and statutory process.
Content
Consideration was given to a report of the Director of
Environment and Sustainability and representations
made by local residents.
DECISION –
THAT having considered the proposals in relation to the
objectives set out in Camden’s Transport Strategy, the design
amendments made in response to feedback received in the public
consultation, the Equality Impact Assessment (Appendix D to the
report), the public Consultation Summary Report (Appendix A), and
having had due regard to the needs set out in section 149 of the
Equality Act (2010) and subject to compliance with relevant
statutory requirements and detailed design, the Cabinet Member for
Planning and a Sustainable Camden agrees to:
i)
Approve the proposal to implement trial timed Healthy School Street
changes outside Christ Church Primary school and permanent Safe
& Healthy Streets changes in the Christchurch Hill and Flask
Walk/Well Walk area. These proposals include proposed design
amendments, to the scheme that was consulted upon, that were made
in response to feedback received through the public
consultation;
ii)
Delegate authority to the Chief Engineer to take any further
decisions relating to the detailed design and implementation
elements of the scheme; and
iii)
Delegate authority to the Director of Environment and
Sustainability, following consultation with the Cabinet Member for
a Sustainable Camden, to take any further decisions required to
deliver the scheme beyond the proposals approved in this report and
on whether to retain, amend or remove the Healthy School Street
scheme at the end of its trial period.
