The Prosiect Gwyrdd Joint Committee is a partnership of five Welsh councils (Caerphilly, Cardiff, Monmouthshire, Newport, and Vale of Glamorgan) focused on finding the most environmentally sound, cost-effective, and practical solutions for managing municipal waste after recycling and composting.
The committee, composed of two executive members from each participating council, oversees strategies to meet challenging recycling and composting targets, including the Welsh Assembly Government's goal of a 70% rate by 2025. Meetings are public, with rules in place to protect commercial information. Cardiff Council acts as the secretariat, managing meeting documentation.
