Purpose

Update on progress in developing a masterplan for the Pengam Green area and to consider recommendations in regard to Gypsy and Traveller site provision within the scope of the masterplan.

Decision

RESOLVED: that

1. It be authorised that the production of a detailed proposal for a new Gypsy and Traveller site continues but on the basis that the site is designated as permanent. This would deliver approximately 80 pitches.
2. It be agreed that the existing Rover Way site is identified as additional permanent provision but note that it will be redesigned to alleviate access and overcrowding issues. This is likely to deliver approximately 20 pitches.
3. It be agreed that a further site assessment process be commenced across the city to identify additional pitches that will meet the gap in provision of 55 pitches.
