Audit and Governance Committee

The Audit and Governance Committee provides an independent overview of Cheshire East Council's corporate governance, financial standards, and ethical behaviour. It reviews the Council's governance, risk management, and control frameworks, and oversees financial reporting and annual governance processes. The committee also promotes high ethical standards by developing and monitoring Codes of Conduct for councillors and other relevant individuals. It receives reports from across the organisation, assesses the effectiveness of existing arrangements, and makes recommendations for improvements. The committee oversees both internal and external audits to ensure effective assurance mechanisms are in place and reports its performance to the full Council.
