Purpose

The Economy and Growth Committee at its meeting on
12 March 2024 resolved to authorise the Head of Economic
Development to select and enter into a contract with a provider to
deliver refurbishment works to Macclesfield Indoor Market, noting
the value of the contract will exceed £1,000,000.

An Officer Delegated Decision relating to this
decision was made on 24 September 2024 -

Decision - Significant Officer Decision:
Macclesfield Market Refurbishment Construction Phase

Final estimated costs when received exceed the
initial estimated maximum contract value, and the available budget.
The project has been value engineered in an attempt to address this
but a shortfall in the order of £240,000 remains.

In order for this project to proceed it has
therefore been necessary to seek additional funding. Authority has
been granted for the reallocation of £243,000 of UKSPF to
fund the budget shortfall, giving a total available budget of
£1,822,500.

This total budget covers, design stage work,
committed work by surveys and legal etc leaving an available budget
of £1,575,942.88 for the construction contract, including an
allowance for risk and contingency.
