About
The Leader of Chesterfield Council holds executive authority to make individual decisions on matters delegated within the Council's Constitution. This role is responsible for setting the overall policy direction and determining the annual budget, including the setting of Council Tax. The Leader also oversees corporate communications, the delivery of key development sites such as Chesterfield Waterside and Staveley Works corridor, and leads on external strategic partnerships. Additionally, the Leader is involved in initiatives to tackle antisocial behaviour and rough sleeping in the town centre.
