Purpose

A section of the Hackney Carriage and Private
Hire Licensing policy was found to be contradictory, in that an
offence was duplicated:
Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (s.47 Offences Against the
Person Act) appears in both the Very Serious Violence and Other
Violence category.
Reviewing the seriousness of the offence, if belongs in neither of
these sections but should be in the Serious Violence section.
It's therefore proposed to delete this offence from the Very
Serious Violence and Other Violence and insert it into the Serious
Violence section.

Option 1 Amend the policy; delete Assault
occasioning actual bodily harm from the Very Serious Violence and
Other Violence section and insert it into the Violence
section.

Alternative options considered

Option 1 - Make the amendment to the policy as
proposed.
Option 2 - Not make the change. This is rejected as the Policy is
currently ambiguous.
